If any of you have traveled to Puerto before. You are probably familiar with overnight layovers that can last an eternity. If you have some extra cash. It's always worth it to grab a room at one of the airport hotels. It may be a little pricey but it's always worth it to gather all the energy you need for the next day of travel. Especially knowing that right after landing, you're only a few minutes away from the beach.
However, Puerto isn't for everyone. This place is as humbling as it gets. Giving everyone a major wake up call right off the plane. Even when it's small Puerto still packs a punch. From the hardest beatings of your life on shallow sand bars, to the longest beatings of your life including two wave hold downs that will rattle anyone to think twice. Training is an absolute necessity.
Sometimes it's best to relax the first day. Unpack, check out the beach, see how the sand bars look, maybe soak up some sun and try to blend in with the locals (hahaha), run to the market and load up on food (you're gonna need it). Also if you're feeling lucky, maybe you got some game, grab a beer and head over to Dans for a run in some good old fashion Table Tennis. Nothing like a good game of pong to start the vacay.
